I tried to get it done but I just didn’t have the time.  I meant to be there but the traffic was so bad. The dog ate my homework. The sun was in my eyes.  I had a rock in my shoe. Excuses. We’ve all heard them and, if we’re honest, we’ve all used them.

What’s Your Excuse?

I don’t know why the other people get all the breaks. What excuse will you use today?

Come on, if you’re really going to be a songwriter why haven’t you pitched those songs?

If you want your artist career to reach the next level why haven’t you called that ____ (agent, manager, label; you fill in the blank).

What To Do

Here are some suggestions for you.  Make a list and check it twice. No more excuses. Small steps forward. Every day do one thing more than you did the day before. Make one more call. Take one more meeting. Subscribe to a tip sheet for songwriters. Attend an industry event. The small efforts really do add up.

If you’re serious about your career make a plan and stick to it.  Every day. Don’t stop until you get there.

Who Ya Gonna Call?

Maybe I can be the guy to be on your team.  Maybe not.  But isn’t your career worth at least making some type of effort to find out? Or are you just going to keep on making excuses?

When?

As Tony Robbins used to say, “How about now would be a good time.”

What’ll it be, hmm?
