Shhh! If you know about The Bluebird here in Nashville you get it. Shhh! Silence! Stop talking and listen!

SILENCE!

The Bluebird is a listening room not a talking or conversation room. You go there to HEAR music and if you must talk you whisper. Kind of a crazy concept but they have made it work.

IMHO, this concept also works exceedingly well for life in general. You know the cliche, “you have two ears and one mouth so use them accordingly,” right? It’s a cliche and an old saying because it’s true.

And then there’s this:

THE GIFT

When we stop talking and get quiet amazing things can happen. You can hear your constant companions your heart and your breathing. They are always there but we so take them for granted. New thoughts and ideas appear out of the silence and as a creative you hear them and follow thier lead.

In music it is said that sometimes the pauses, the rests, the silence between notes speaks the loudest. Roll that around in your brain for a few minutes.

Silence is a gift. It’s never far away and and to paraphrase Thomas Carlyle silence is boundless and inexhaustible, truly the gift that keeps on giving.

Shhh!

I’m just going to leave this here for you to do with it what you will. Consider this my gift to you. I truly hope you will find it useful!

Thank you for indulging me.
